This lounge chair, based on a century-old design, was remodelled into its current form by Swedish design trio Claesson Koivisto Rune. They have created an elegant piece that references our traditional typology: a bentwood part that is usually combined with a cane weave for an extremely comfortable sitting experience.
The TON 811 Chair and armchair are part of the extensive product line inspired by Josef Hoffmann’s original design. In 1962, TON reimagined the A811 to create their iconic 811 chairs, incorporating Art Nouveau elements using manual bentwood technology. This version includes a backrest and seat woven with cane. The option for an upholstered version is also available.

811 chair is an understated and a very stylish chair that is not only suitable for dining at home, but also at bistros, cafes and restaurants.
BEECH FINISH
As well as the natural lacquered or oiled beech finish, chair frame can be stained, leaving the woodgrain visible under the chosen shade, or fully covered with a pigment:
Varnished or oiled beech finish: lacquered (water based varnish, UV protective, easy to clean and maintain) or oiled (matt protective layer that does not peel or crack and allows wood to breathe; minor damages can be sanded and re-oiled with this surface treatment; oil also brings out the natural colour of the wood).
Stained beech finish: staining is applied by either immersion or spraying and then finished with a layer of transparent lacquer. This finish allows for the individual wood characteristics to be visible. Staining does not affect the wood structure.
Pigmented beech finish: pigment completely covers the surface of the wood leaving a smooth, fully covered appearance.
